History

Headstrong was founded in 1981 as James Martin Associates by Dr. James Martin, who today serves as Chairman Emeritus. In 1990, our organization was renamed James Martin & Company and, in 2000, we became known as Headstrong.

Our decades-long leadership in process management tools and methods is openly available to the project management community through our wholly-owned subsidiary, gantthead.com.

Headstrong hews closely to Dr. Martin’s hallmark of innovation and business leadership. In 1982, we published the first methodology to translate business needs into system solutions – Information Engineering Methodology (IEM).

Other Headstrong innovations include the integration of rules and Object Oriented methods, the first hypertext methodology, and the value stream approach. Recruitment Process:

Round 1: Written test

This round has written test and if you clear this round only then can you appear in the next round of interview. This round includes 50% C, C++ questions and the rest are non-technical questions of quantities and reasoning.

Round 2: Group Discussion

In this round, a group of 10 students go through the group discussion whose topics range from general current affairs to highly technical topics like cloud computing etc.

Round 3: One to One Technical Round 

This round needs you to be prepared with all sorts of technical questions ranging from C, C++, java to data structures, OS etc.

Round 4: HR Interview:

This is also a one on one round between the candidate and the HR.

The final reward waits at the end of this round.

 

TRAINING&WELFARE

Headstrong’s centers are focused exclusively on securities industry engagements. By virtue of its location in the nerve centre of what is today considered the “Silicon Valley” of India, this facility benefits from the city’s pleasant climate, deep IT talent pool, excellent training and telecommunication infrastructure, and progressive government policies. Originally set up seven years ago as the 100% subsidiary of a large European investment bank, the center served as the dedicated IT arm for its securities industry divisions. Headstrong later acquired its people and assets. Today, with 320 highly qualified staff and 77,000 square feet of workspace, the centre represents one of the largest single-location concentrations of securities industry and technology specialists of any offshore vendor in the world today.

Opened in November 2002 as our Bangalore Center of Excellence, this is a certified CMM Level 3 facility.

Environment
Our Bangalore centre is equipped with state-of-the-art computing and hardware systems. It is connected to Head strong’s NOIDA (India) and Manila (Philippines) centers, and to customer sites worldwide, through high-speed data communication links. It has centralized air-conditioning, and is tastefully designed on the open-plan concept that affords some privacy while ensuring an open work environment. Amenities include conference and meeting facilities, cafés where subsidized lunch and snacks are served, pantry areas for refreshments, library and gymnasium. Operating on 24×7 basis with full service capabilities (fax machines, photocopiers, printers, and presentation equipment), the centre provides an intellectually stimulating software development venue. A constantly rejuvenated learning environment ensures that clients with complex requirements can find top-class skills and solutions. Depending on the need, dedicated and secure areas or floors can be assigned for any Headstrong client within the centre.

Headstrong has made considerable investments in infrastructure and communication facilities for this offshore centre to ensure the primary objective of making development independent of distance from customer site or Headstrong US offices. Currently experiencing rapid manpower growth, we focus on employing top quality professionals from India’s premium institutes like IITs and IIMs. Our leadership team in India averages more than 12 years of experience with Headstrong. More than 4,000 person days of training at our India facilities (Bangalore and NOIDA) have been completed in the last 12 months.

Employee Programs: Keeping them Motivated

A stand-out aspect of Head strong’s culture is its strong focus on meritocracy and performance orientation. Every Thursday, Headstrong publishes a performance report of all its teams. It is no secret within the organization as to how the Bangalore or Chicago office is doing. There is no debate on whether a particular office, leader, or employee is doing well or not – everybody knows how well everybody is doing. Transparency is the key. In a way, this breaks down ‘power centre’ – it is hard to play favourites or have godfathers in the company with so much transparency. CEO designate, Sandeep Sahai says, “We don’t want to build the best offshore company. We don’t want to build the best onshore company. We just want to build the best consulting company globally when it comes to consulting for financial services.”

Striving to create a work environment that is challenging but satisfying, and which provides ample opportunities and rewards to strengthen and expand employees’ careers is another unique aspect of the company. The company has various institutionalized programs and activities to ensure retention of its employees. Whether it is a company-sponsored adventure trip to the Corbett National Park, or a gym and crèche at its India development centre, there is enough to keep employees stress-free, comfortable, and having fun at work.

 

Welfare:

Headstrong employees are not to be left behind when it comes to community service and joining relief and rehabilitation efforts during times of grave challenges. During the wrath of typhoons, Ondoy and Pepeng in the Philippines, the management and employees put up a disaster relief fund for people whose homes and properties were damaged by the floods. This was just one element of the company’s ‘Outreach program’, developed at its Manila centre, to engage its 650-strong workforce in community-conscious programs. Or take for instance, the ‘tree planting activity’ where Headstrong adopted 14 trees for a year and a half, providing not just fertilizers and protection, but tender care and continual attention.

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o’er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line

The waves beside them danced; but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
A poet could not but be gay,
